Midnight concert with Edvard Grieg Choir

Saturday 13 August 2016

Atmospheric midnight concert under Larvik Baroque, with Edvard Grieg Kor, Norway's foremost professional choir.

The concert draws long lines - not only about life, but also musical history from the Renaissance to the present day. The program is a journey in a life cycle; our lives - from the beginning of life, through a life lived, to experiences at the end of life.

The lyrics deal with the cycle of life from the newly written work "From the beginning of the world", through medieval life and living, dance and the height of life, to the end of life here on earth with the second performance of Last spring , David Lang (Oscar nominee in 2016 for best song to the film Youth ).

Aakko Mäntyjjarvi's Pseudo-yoik gives focus to an overlooked part of the Baroque in Norway, the Sami culture. Tyrone Landau's Passio Olavi , with texts from Olaf's miracles recorded in Bergen in the Middle Ages.
