When the Edvard Grieg Vocal Ensemble takes place on the Festallmenningen's outdoor stage, it is songs by Edvard Grieg. The choir has a strong connection to Grieg, and has all choral music by Grieg in its repertoire. This spring evening, several of Grieg's national treasures are on the list of works, including Våren , Jeg elsker dig and I Dovregubben's dansehall . The concert ends the Bergen Children's Choir Festival, which takes over the outdoor stage earlier the same day.

Edvard Grieg Vocal Ensemble consists of eight singers and forms the core of Edvard Grieg Kor, the only professional choir in Western Norway. During this year's festival, the choir celebrates its 20th anniversary, and on that occasion the vocal ensemble can be experienced in Håkonshallen together with a jazz trio and Jonathan Rathbone. The latter is also behind several of the Grieg arrangements performed at this outdoor concert.
