Opening concert Festspillene

Wednesday 20 May 2020

The Bergen Festival 2020 starts with a magnificent opening concert in Grieghallen on Wednesday 20 May, under the experienced direction of NRK's Arild Erikstad and soprano Mari Eriksmoen. Unfortunately, we cannot physically welcome the public this year, but in return everyone gets a seat in the front row when they take part in the event from home.

The program consists of a varied artistic menu, with music by, among others, festival composer Jörg Widmann, Mozart and Pärt and others. The Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra is led by chief conductor Edward Gardner, and Wardruna's Einar Selvik, pianist Leif Ove Andsnes and violinists Eldbjørg Hemsing and Ludvig Gudim are also on stage.

In addition, you will hear from HM Queen Sonja, HRH Crown Prince Haakon, Prime Minister Erna Solberg and Mayor Marte Mjøs Persen.

The opening concert is also broadcast on NRK and bt.no, and like the rest of this year's festival, you can follow it on fib.no and on Facebook.

We warmly welcome you to an extraordinary party game in an extraordinary year!
